Free Monthly Budget Planner — Plan Income, Spending & Savings in Minutes

A budget planner is a tool that divides your monthly income across spending categories so every dollar has a job — and shows whether your actual spending stays inside the plan. This free online budget planner starts with your monthly take-home income, then lets you set a planned amount for each category (Housing, Food, Transport, Utilities, Savings, Other — all renamable) and log what you actually spend. Color-coded progress bars turn green when you’re under budget, amber as you approach the limit, and red when you overspend, while summary cards track total income, total planned, total actual, remaining money and your savings rate. It’s ideal for anyone building their first budget, couples managing household money, or freelancers with variable income. No sign-up needed — everything is stored privately in your browser.

How It Works

  1. Enter your monthly take-home income at the top.
  2. For each category, type what you plan to spend — rename categories to match your life if you like.
  3. As the month goes on, enter your actual spending per category; the bars and status labels update instantly (green = under, amber = close, red = over).
  4. Watch the summary cards: Remaining shows what’s left of your income, and Savings rate shows the percentage you’re keeping. Press Reset budget any time to start a fresh month.
